Job Description
OK Zimbabwe Limited is seeking a dedicated and skilled Building Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities Management team in Harare. This vital role is available for both full-time and part-time engagement, offering flexibility for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections of company properties, identifying and addressing maintenance issues promptly.
- Conduct minor electrical repairs, including lighting fixtures, outlets, and basic wiring.
- Handle plumbing tasks such as fixing leaks, unclogging drains, and maintaining water systems.
- Execute carpentry work, including repairs to doors, windows, shelving, and furniture.
- Perform general painting, plastering, and masonry work as needed.
- Maintain HVAC systems, including filter changes and basic troubleshooting.
- Ensure all safety standards and regulations are met across all facilities.
- Respond to emergency maintenance calls and resolve issues efficiently.
- Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and material usage.
- Coordinate and oversee work performed by external contractors for specialized repairs or projects.
- Manage and maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working order.
- Assist with facility renovations and improvements as directed.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in building maintenance or a related trade (e.g., electrician, plumber, carpenter).
- Strong knowledge of general building systems, including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools.
- Basic computer literacy for record-keeping and communication.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform manual tasks, lift heavy objects, and work in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant trade certification (e.g., National Certificate in Electrical, Plumbing, or Carpentry).
- Experience working in a retail or commercial property maintenance setting.
- Valid Class 4 driver's license.
