Job Description

Storebrand ASA is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Controller to join our dynamic finance team in Oslo. As a Controller, you will be instrumental in the planning, controlling, and reporting processes, providing crucial financial insights that drive informed decision-making across various departments. You will be responsible for maintaining robust internal controls, ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations and accounting standards (IFRS, Norwegian GAAP), and contributing to the continuous improvement of our financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all aspects of the accounting cycle, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with IFRS and Norwegian GAAP.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal control systems and procedures.
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide insightful commentary on financial performance against budget and forecasts.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic financial forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant tax regulations and statutory requirements.
  • Liaise with external auditors during annual audits and other financial reviews.
  • Support business units with financial analysis, cost control, and profitability reporting.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of financial processes and systems.
  • Participate in ad-hoc financial projects and initiatives as required by management.

Required Skills

  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a controlling, auditing, or similar financial management role.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and Norwegian GAAP.
  • Proficiency in financial software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday Financials) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex financial information effectively to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal. Proficiency in Norwegian is a significant advantage.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within the financial services, insurance, or banking industry.
  • CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
  • Experience with Business Intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Proven track record of process improvement and digital transformation initiatives in finance.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
